SUMMARY:Cavalry Commander J.E.B. Stuart's Whereabouts Before & During the B
 attle of Gettysburg
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Friday\, October 13\, as author Scott L. Mingus\, Sr
.\, examines the enduring controversy over Confederate cavalry commander J
.E.B. Stuart’s whereabouts before and during the Battle of Gettysburg.&n
bsp\;\nMany people erroneously believe that Stuart was on a glory ride aro
und the Army of the Potomac while the Battle of Gettysburg raged\, deliber
ately depriving Robert E. Lee of "the eyes and ears of the army." Mr. Ming
us\, making extensive use of post-war civilian border claims and old maps\
, will discuss Stuart's route north\, the obstacles that caused him to mis
s his planned connection with Lee's army near the Susquehanna River\, and
the wearisome\, exhausting ride up and down the hills of York County\, fro
m June 30 to July 2\, 1863\, concurrent with the first two days of the Bat
tle of Gettysburg.&nbsp\;\nMr. Mingus is a retired scientist and executive
in the global specialty paper industry. The Ohio native graduated from Mi
ami University. &nbsp\;He has written more than 30 books on the Civil War
and the Underground Railroad and numerous articles for Gettysburg Magazine
and other historical journals. &nbsp\;He has appeared on C-SPAN\, C-SPAN3
\, PBS\, PCN\, and other TV networks. &nbsp\;He writes a blog on the Civil
War history of York County\, where he and his wife Debi live. &nbsp\;He h
as also written six scenario books for miniature wargaming. His books have
received or been nominated for numerous national awards.&nbsp\; Mr. Mingu
s will also serve as our guide on Saturday\, November 4\, when we visit Wi
nchester\, Virginia\, to study the Second Battle of Winchester.\nThose who
are unable to attend this engagement in person are invited to tune in to
the lecture and Q&amp\;A session via Zoom.&nbsp\; Click on the following l
