The free black community of Hinsonville answered the call and sent it's sons to serve our nation. Join us as Dr. Cheryl Renee Gooch presents an overview of her recent work, Hinsonville's Heroes which details the contributions of these patriotic Americans.
Cheryl Renee Gooch has a lifelong passion for cultural history and uncovering African American history that has been overlooked or forgotten. She is author of "On Africa's Lands: The Forgotten Stories of Two Lincoln University-Educated Missionaries in Liberia (Lincoln University Press, 2014), and numerous articles about the African American experience.
Dr. Gooch has held posts at Lincoln University, Alabama State University, Delaware State University, and Clark Atlanta University. She is a graduate of Howard University in Washington. Dean Gooch earned a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University and a Ph.D. in mass communication from Florida State University.
