Join us on Friday, September 15, as Dan Welch recounts the heroic defense of Culp’s Hill by George Sears Greene’s brigade.  Against overwhelming odds, this lone Union brigade held this critically important terrain in a climactic action on July 2, 1863.  Learn about Greene, his men, and their gallant service on the slopes of Culp’s Hill in this exciting presentation, which electrified attendees at this summer’s Sacred Trust lectures.  What better way to kick of our 65th anniversary campaign year, or commemorate the 160th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg?

Mr. Welch is an educator with a public school district in northeast Ohio. Previously, he served as the education programs coordinator for the Gettysburg Foundation, and continues to serve as a seasonal park ranger at Gettysburg National Military Park. Dan is the editor of the long-running Gettysburg Magazine and has been a contributing member at Emerging Civil War for over seven years. He is the coauthor of two works in the Emerging Civil War Series: The Last Road North: A Guide to the Gettysburg Campaign, 1863 and Never Such A Campaign: The Battle of Second Manassas, August 28-30, 1862. Welch has also co-edited several volumes in the Emerging Civil War’s Tenth Anniversary Series. He is also the co-author of Ohio at Antietam: The Buckeye State’s Sacrifice on America’s Bloodiest Day with the History Press. Dan resides with his wife, Sarah, and three Labrador retrievers in Boardman, Ohio.

Buffet Dinner Includes:  Cider Brined Pork Loin, Lemon Cod Fish Fillet, Jasmin Rice Pilaf, Broccoli, Mixed Field Greens, House-Made Soup du Jour, Assorted Cookies, Rolls/Butter, Iced Tea & Lemonade.
